John Paul Stevens

January 19, 2012

Colbert Super PAC is possible thanks to the Supreme Court Ruling on Citizens United. The ruling states that corporations are people, and therefore entitled to contribute unlimited speech and, more importantly, money, to political campaigns.

The ruling was not without its dissenters. One judge in particular, Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens (now retired), was especially critical of the decision. Stephen decided to interview and out-legal Stevens in his Washington office.

Exclusive Outtakes

Stephen's take-down of Stevens' anti-corporate views resulted in three exclusive outtakes. In the first one, the retired justice explains why he thinks letting corporations have unlimited spending during elections is risky business.

Then, Stephen shifted gears and asked Justice Stephens for legal advice regarding a dispute with his neighbor, Alan.

In the final exclusive clip, the two men discuss Stephen's chances of becoming a Supreme Court justice.
